Wednesday 6th April

My day at school started with French. In this lesson we were learning about different verbs ending in –er, this included aimer which means ‘to like’, jouer which means ‘to play’ and travailler which means ‘to work.’ At break-time my friends and I went to the playroom. The next lesson was English, we were learning about Much Ado About Nothing in which we had to find out the connections of all the different characters and their relationships with each other, this was quite fun as I have never read this Shakespearian play. Third period was PE- we watched our Single Ladies video that we had performed and recorded last lesson. It was so fun watching each other’s dances, they were all so good!

Lunch went by very quickly, my friends and I went to the dance studio to prepare for our dance assessment, this was Moulin Rouge and we brought costumes aswell! After lunch we had maths where we had to come up with an idea for our own brand of perfume and work out the dimensions to find out the volume of the perfume bottle. We called our perfume ‘Summer Loving’ and we designed it to be in a trapezium shaped bottle. Our final lesson of the day was Physics where we had just started a new topic about global warming; it was very worrying as we learnt about how pollution will destroy the World! Overall, I had a very enjoyable, interesting day!

Tuesday 5th April

Today we had P.E. first period in which we played Beat the Ball Rounders, something I have never played before. I learnt that you simply have to hit the ball and run round the posts when you are batting and when you are fielding you have to pass the ball from post one to four before the batter reaches it. I enjoyed this and found it interesting learning a new game. Next we had Information Technology in this lesson we developed a spreadsheet model containing information about a charity disco. The following lesson was History in which we peer-marked our Black Death stories, I have enjoyed learning about the Plague and some of the funny ways they believed it could be cured which modern medics would laugh at!

During lunch time I practised a dance we have to perform in a group for an assessment on Friday; I enjoy working as part of a group and bringing all our ideas together. In Maths after lunch we prepared for the upcoming maths challenge by completing a past examination paper in groups. This enabled us to help each other. The last lesson of the day was English; we were labelling our limerick poems and Haikus! This was confusing but I soon got the hang of it. The end of my school day came very quickly as it always does with such interesting lessons, as I walked out of school I thought about the journey home on the green bus! We had a different colour bus tonight which confused us all; one boy from the Aston school even nearly missed the bus because of this!! Overall a great day! I am so looking forward to the next two days as were not having our normal timetable but two days of performing arts! Should be fun!

Brighten up the day with a blast from the past!
First lesson in the morning we had history, where we solved a 17th century murder mystery and made the teacher walk the plank in an online interactive game.

We haven’t had an RS lesson in…it’s been so long it can’t remember, so it was sad to find out that we won’t have another lesson for another 4 weeks, due to the holidays and teacher training day. My poster for RE month was submitted into the national competition a while ago, too! I am anxious to find out the results, and to see if anyone I know won.

We went back to punctuation basics in English, with the use of colons and semi-colons. Dr. Romon Alonso’s Drawings should be legends by now! Geography was a real Twister… we learnt about the destruction tornadoes could make.

We revised all we learnt about rocks and their formations in science, although we had a supply teacher (the Legend Mrs Barratt) as Miss Handcock was away.

...and so the day ended. We didn't have to walk the long way to get to the back entrance, now the library has finished!

Today seemed like it was going to be an average Tuesday except for the fact that everyone was more tired due to it nearly being the end of term. However lots of people seemed to be excited for the holidays. Today I had Geography, English, French and double tech. In Geography we looked at the global fashion industry. English went fairly quickly as we were just revising for our end of year exam. In French we were told that we were going to have a writing assessment next lesson. Unfortunately for us, our next lesson was tomorrow. Despite being warned about our test a day before, we were reassured by the fact that we were allowed all our notes. Lunch also went fairly quickly.

Last lesson was double tech and I was in resistant materials. I was looking forward to this lesson because it was a nice way to end the day. I continued working on my Harry Potter style jewellery with my friends whilst also having a conversation with Mr Hazleton and Mr Coleman about Fleetwood Mac, The Clash, The Kinks and funnily enough The Prodigy too.

Thursday 31st March

Today was a good day at school; we had a lot of fun. School is usually good but today was really good, because we had the most amazing time in French. It was amazing because we got princess stickers, I know it sounds babyish but it was really fun. At the start of the lesson six people got chocolate for getting a verb right. I got a Snow White sticker and I think next time Miss Neilly is going to get Tinker-Bell, because we had a class vote and she came out on top as well as SpongeBob SquarePants, but I nominated Tinker-Bell, so I was happy she got chosen! So French was my highlight of the day.

As soon as I woke up, the first thought that came to my mind was: “Oh great! School.”  Another long day at school! Surprisingly, Thursday morning turned out to be pretty good as my first lesson was German!! For second period, I had maths (yay) and then music. In music we performed our compositions. It went really well. After lunch, I had geography and P.E. After that it was a long journey home, to make things even worse…. I had a headache!

Wednesday 30th March

First lesson was Art with Mr Parkinson. We had to move to room 12 because of the art exams going on.This meant that we couldn't do a lot. Second we had Learning to learn; again with Mr Parkinson. I missed most of the lesson as I had gone to my music lesson. We then had English where we learnt to make personification poems for out poem anthology.

Fourth we had I.C.T where we did spreadsheet work. Last lesson we had science with Mr Nawaz. In this lesson we tried to work out a crime as we are studying the forensics subject. Overall it was an ordinary day.

Today I had a brilliant start to the day because there was an assembly about sporting achievements and I was very proud of myself as I featured in many of the photos from the slide show. Some of the photos I had even taken myself because I was a reserve during the foundation schools swimming gala and was helping out with the general organisation of the event. I was taking photographs for PE matters and I felt very privileged to represent my school in so many sporting activities that I thoroughly enjoyed. Sport means a lot to me and at King Edwards I am fortunate to participate in so many extra curricular activities. I also am hoping to be a part of the rounders squad or team as I was last year because the summer sports are now starting to be played.

I do not only get involved in sporting activities as today I had my oboe lesson which I am preparing for my exam in. I also thoroughly enjoy being a part of music groups and was recently involved in the school play, Oliver! I had lots of fun being a part of this production and the final result was great.

After two half days because of ROA it was going to be odd to have a full day today! We first had double tech – a highlight of our week! We were making jewellery in woodwork out of pewter and today I made a box to put it in. I always like tech so today had started out great! Next we had maths. We were learning about real line graphs so we basically drew lines! We also had a problem to work out which was quite complicated.

After a lunch that involved being temporarily locked in the sports hall by the year sevens we had French. Not one of my favourite subjects but it was better than I thought as it was mainly speaking. Finally we had history – one of my favourite subjects. This lesson was particularly good as one of the activities involved decision making based on the treaty of Versailles. We decided in out group we would play the role of the different countries to make it more realistic so, whilst getting the work done, one girl in our group put on a really good American accent that cracked me and my friend up so much! Overall it as a good day and definitely one of the better days on the timetable!

Tuesday 29th March

Today wasn’t one of my favourite days but it was great because we only had two lessons as it was ROA day. First period was Science and we had a test on rocks and weathering. This wasn’t very fun. But we marked it in the lesson and I didn’t do too badly! After break we had History with Miss Limb, in this lesson we learnt about Oliver Cromwell and were deciding whether we thought he was a hero or a villain. We watched a video which helped us choose whether Cromwell really was bad or good.   It was quite interesting to see how he did things and why people had different views on him. I had my ROA appointment on Monday so I got to go home at 11:25 today. It was nice to go home early because on Monday I had quite a late interview time and had to wait until the end of the day.

Today was an ROA day so we only had two lessons. The two lessons I had were Chemistry and French. In Chemistry we were learning about bonding and in French we were learning about being healthy.  I had my ROA interview today so I was staying at school for the whole day. My interview went well and I had a good day.
